Developed the roof-mounted solar PV project for the National University of Science and Technology in Bulawayo and undertook its environmental impact assessment. The work brought project design and environmental approval together at campus scale.
Contributed to development of the 99 kW Mashaba solar minigrid in Gwanda South. Practical Action, SNV and Dabane Trust implemented the wider programme, which supplies a school, clinic, irrigation schemes and local businesses.
Developed the feasibility study for Zimbabwe’s National Domestic Biogas Programme and presented a paper at its launch. The programme, advanced by SNV and partners, aimed to expand clean cooking and productive energy use.
Advised on development of Ravensus’s 50 MW solar PV project at Shangani in Matabeleland South, supporting utility-scale independent power producer development.
For SolGas’s Cross Mabale solar PV plant in Hwange, worked with Soventix on technical feasibility and factory acceptance tests. Kathea Energy served as procurement partner; the assignment focused on equipment assurance.
Conducted a hazard and operability study for Zimplats’ solar PV plant, reviewing technical and operational risks for the platinum miner’s solar programme.
Worked with various partners to develop and deliver 40 MWp of C&I solar PV in South Africa and projects elsewhere in Southern Africa. Selected sites include Tambuti Estate in Eswatini, Unisa’s Graduate School of Business Leadership and an Econet data centre PV plant.
Worked with partners on the Doornkop community solar and battery project in Steve Tshwete Municipality. ICLEI Africa, the municipality and community supported the wider initiative; Borena Energy supplied the solar PV installation serving the community centre and care facilities.
Worked on Borena Energy’s solar streetlighting project in Diepsloot, bringing lighting to an unelectrified community with public safety as the stated purpose.
Supported stakeholder engagement and sustainability programme management during expansion of Pan African Resources’ Elikhulu gold-tailings retreatment operation in Mpumalanga.
Served as technical lead in STARENA with the University of Exeter and South African partners. Community workshops and network measurements informed a socio-technical assessment of resilient rural electricity networks.
Managed delivery of the City of Johannesburg School Greening Project, coordinating participating schools and project partners to implement the city’s greening programme.
